Loudoun Civic and Transit Center at Moorefield Station
Moorefield Station
The LCTC proposal has been submitted in cooperation with the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation (the Foundation), a philanthropic organization whose mission is to enhance educational opportunities for young people in Loudoun County and across the Commonwealth.
In 2000, the Foundation sought to rezone the 600-acre Moorefield Station property to provide additional resources to fund its educational mission. In 2002, Loudoun County rezoned the transit-oriented development in fulfillment of its Comprehensive Plan.
As part of this proposal response, the Foundation is making available more than 27 contiguous acres of land in Moorefield Station for the Loudoun Civic and Transit Center.
LCTC’s proposed location at Moorefield Station provides many benefits to the County. An innovative and balanced development centered around an urban district and regional transit hub, Moorefield Station promotes housing, employment and transportation choices to serve a wide range of County residents.
Moorefield Station has been designed to become a sustainable community by its efficient use of land. The mix of uses proposed promotes a well-rounded community reminiscent of towns developed in the past.
